Pictures of my Stainton 6M column with 150w Philips SGS 253 "Iridium" which was bought from MacLean Electrical and installed in May 2007. The column is a good security feature as it also lights the surrounding gardens. The bracket on the "Mini column" is an AC Ford AC58/2.

Sign lights in the collection can be viewed here. I have a new Bergoflorry for 2x8w, ReddiLight RH1 which is the only LED fitting in the collection and uses just 4.5w and a keep left sign. I also have a Simmonsigns LUA8 for 2x8w.

The metal halide lantern collection recieved it's firtst CosmoPolis lantern in 2010 the Urbis ZXU1 45w followed by an Indal 2-Tone for 140w. Most of the meatal halide lanterns are fitted with one piece electronic ballasts oppose to electromagnetic control gear is the SON-T fittings.

The lamp collection is the most important part of any light collection because the lanterns are no good without them. In here you will see various lamp types from plant lighting, industrial lighting, household lighting and even a G.E Year 2000 Celebration lamp!

There are many types of photo cells in the collection such as the two-part Royce Thompson P42 and ER5N, Oasis 2000, Zodion SS3, SELC 8480, 849-2 part and ER12H mini cells. 70 Lux is standard however I do have 35 and 40 Lux cells.

Without ballasts, ignitors, capacitors, leak transformers, electronic units and drivers the street lighting you see every night would not work. In here there are pictures of all of the afore mentioned components.

Once I have fully restored my lanterns they go on display in the lantern room where I fit them to wall brackets and power them up. There are Iridiums in size order and a wall full of SOX lanterns. If you want to know anything more about restoring lanterns contact me on streetlanterns@hotmail.co.uk
